World Environment Day (WED) is observed every year on June 5 to raiseawareness about various environmental issues and encourage action for
the protection of environment.
It was initiated in 1972 by the United Nations General Assembly as a global platform for raising awareness and taking action on increasingly urgent issues like marine pollution, global warming
and wildlife crime.
This year’s theme ‘Go Wild For Life’ encourages people ‘to celebrate all those species under threat and take action of your own to help
safeguard them for future generations’.
On this World Environment Day, we bring to you how pollution has changed India
in past few decades.
