Who Will Be Next Indian Coach? BCCI To Announce Name Today | NWI

BCCI President Anurag Thakur will announce the name of Indian cricket team’s head coach today.

“Announcement on Indian cricket team’s head coach will be made by this evening,” Anurag Thakur told the media.

However, the most pertinent question of the hour is the name that will lead team India to victory in the coming years.

Though BCCI has trimmed the list of 57 candidates that applied for the post to 21, yet the choice for the advisory panel made of Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, Sourav Ganguly and former BCCI secretary Sanjay Jagdale remains tough.

While the Former Indian captain Anil Kumble, batsman Pravin Amre and former Indian opener Lalchand Rajput have done presentations before the board, Ravi Shastri, who was the Indian team director until the end of the World Twenty20, is being considered a strong candidate.

Former Indian pacer-turned-coach Venkatesh Prasad, 1983 World Cup star bowler Balwinder Singh Sandhu and former Bangladesh coach Stuart Law are also being considered for the post.

Word is that Shastri may continue as India’s team director and the post will be given to a coach of greater international standing.

While its difficult to ignore Kumble, Shastri remains a favourite choice for team India.

According to reports, the new coach is likely to be given a 3-year contract that will run until 2019 World Cup.
