Joining the debate on the alleged irregularities in the recently held Haryana Rajya Sabha polls, former secretary general of the Lok Sabha PDT Achary on Thursday said that Election Commission has the power to cancel the elections.
“EC has the power and can cancel the elections under Article 324,”said Achary while talking exclusively to News World India.
BJP-backed independent candidate and media baron Subhash Chandra was recently elected to the Rajya Sabha from Haryana, after 14 Congress votes were declared invalid.
The 14 votes which disqualified was on the ground that they were inked using the wrong pen. INLD and Independent candidate R K Anand said that it was BJP-RSS’s conspiracy.
