There’re loads of other problems that accompany this debilitating disease and have mental health hazard as well. It has been also revealed that in some of the rare cases it can affect the eyesight. And the delay in seeking treatment can cause blindness.

This disease is caused by the ‘Aedes Aegypti mosquito’, which spreads dengue fever, chikungunya and yellow fever viruses, among other diseases. The mosquito can be recognised by white markings on its legs and a marking in the form of a lyre on the thorax.

The symptoms of the disease includes sudden high fever, headache, eye pain, red eyes, lower back pain, severe aches in the legs and joints and extreme weakness.

Apart from the symptoms and other major problems, a dengue patient might have certain long term effects. Patient can suffer from muscle pain, joint pain and weakness for some months. Due to low immunity, patient might get vulnerable to several other diseases. Women suffering from Dengue might also face delay in menstrual cycle for up to 2 months.

Also, in case dengue patient is suffering from other complications, such as seizures, depression, encephalitis, cardiomyopathy, pneumonia, liver injury, oophoritis and more, it may persist for long even post dengue period.
