'Udta Punjab' Controversy: Bombay High Court To Hear Plea Against Censor Board Tomorrow | NWI

The Bombay High Court on Thursday heard the petition filed by Phantom films, one of the producers of the movie ‘Udta Punjab’, against the Central Bureau of Film Certification’s refusal to grant the film an ‘A’ certificate.

The HC allowed the company to amend its petition, allowing them to challenge the Censor Board’s order suggesting 13 cuts in the film, before its scheduled 17 June release.

Among the cuts imposed by the CBFC’s review committee are: the removal of all references to the state of Punjab, its cities and visuals of Shahid Kapoor urinating, characters using drugs etc.

Phantom Films on Wednesday moved to the Bombay High Court seeking a copy of the order passed by Censor Board’s Review Committee purportedly suggesting cuts in the movie and removal of reference to Punjab in it.

However, the court adjourned the matter till tomorrow.
