Toyota Likely To Introduce Petrol Version Of Innova And Fortuner | News World India

Toyota India unit may bring in the petrol version of its popular models Innova and Fortuner, considering the recent Supreme Court order on banning the sale of diesel cars and SUVs with engine capacity over 2000cc in Delhi-NCR region till March 31, 2016.

According to a report in The Economic Times, the company also plans to start manufacturing petrol versions of its future products, in case the ban is extended on vehicles with different engine capacity.

Deputy managing director-commercial at Toyota Kirloskar Motor, TS Jaishankar said, “When we started selling the Innova, we had made available a petrol version. It was discontinued as demand was largely diesel-driven. We have to see now …If it warrants, we have to get it back.”

The Supreme Court on Tuesday extended the earlier ban on the registration and sale of new diesel vehicles above the capacity of 2,000cc in the capital.
