The maker of Barbie, Mattel’s latest campaign ‘Imagine The Possibilities’ shows young girls aspiring to different careers, including professor, veterinarian, soccer coach and businesswoman. However, it has taken almost 59 years to come up with the awesome ad, where they have shown a Barbie though the eyes of her own playmates.
According to reports, there has been the declining sales since 2011 as little girls are not anymore fascinated to buy Barbie as they once used to. The sales of Barbie dropped almost by 14 per cent in 2014. Also, Bryan G. Stockton, CEO for three years, resigned earlier this year and was replaced by Richard Dickson, who was once responsible for a mini Barbie-comeback in 90s, as President and COO.
The ad going viral fits perfectly to what the creator of the Barbie doll, Ruth Handler, once said, “My whole philosophy of Barbie was that through the doll, the little girl could be anything she wanted to be. Barbie always represented the fact that a woman has choices.”
The video starts with “What Happens When Girls Are Free To Imagine They Can Be Anything?”, while it ends with “When A Girl Plays With Barbie She Imagines Everything She Can Become.”
