Nobel laureate RK Pachauri has been removed as chief of the think-tank TERI a day after he was given clearance to visit its premises, apart from the one in Gurgaon and Lodhi Road.
Amidst the changes in TERI, Ajay Mathur has been appointed as the new chief of the think-tank.
Ajay Mathur, currently Director General of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) has been appointed as the new DG in a decision taken at the governing Council (GC) meeting of TERI
here.
“The Governing Council (GC) of TERI at its meeting held in Bangalore took a decision to appoint Ajay Mathur as the Director General of TERI.
“Mathur will take up his new responsibilities as soon as he is in a position to do so, subsequent to being relieved from his current responsibilities by the Government of India
after a brief period of transition,” an official TERI release said.

Few weeks ago, he faced third round of police questioning at his residence in the alleged sexual harassment case registered against him by a woman researcher.
Pachauri has denied the charges against him and the police plans to confront him with the woman to verify the facts in the case.

The FIR against Pachauri in the sexual harassment was registered under sections 354, 354(a), 354(d) (Molestation) and 506(criminal intimidation) of the IPC at Lodhi Colony police station on a 33-page complaint submitted by the woman researcher on February 13 this year.
Last Firday, Saket Court allowed RK Pachauri to visit any of TERI offices all across the Nation except Lodhi road and Gurgaon office.
The judgement came after Pachauri, accused of sexual assault, filed an application in the court saying that he should be allowed to visit Teri office so that he can start working again.

Following this development, the complainant against Pachauri said, “It’s been more than 5 months. This should have happened a long time ago. I have become exhausted, both mentally and physically and fear for my career.”
