External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Sunday inaugurated the India-Palestine Digital Learning and Innovation Centre at the campus of the Al Quds University.
“Investing in youth for a better future. EAM inaugurates the #IndiaPalestine Digital learning Centre at Al Quds Univ,” external affairs ministry spokesman Vikas Swarup tweeted.
The centre is part of India’s efforts at supplementing capacity-building in Palestine.
Earlier on Sunday, Sushma Swaraj, who was accompanied by Secretary (East) in the external affairs ministry Anil Wadhwa and other senior officials of the ministry, held delegation-level talks with Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Maliki, to start her visit to Palestine and Israel.
Her visit comes after the visit of President Pranab Mukherjee in October last year.
Sushma Swaraj also called on Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, who hosted a lunch in her honour.
Prior to that, she paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at his bust, which is placed at the Garden of Nations here.
She also paid tributes to the mausoleum of late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat here.
Sushma Swaraj, who landed in Tel Aviv late on Saturday, reached Ramallah, the administrative capital of Palestine, on Sunday morning.
From Palestine, the Indian minister will proceed to Israel to meet the top Israeli leadership.
