Senior BJP leader Subramanian Swamy, Screenwriter Salim Khan, Olympic medalist boxer Mary Kom, former MP and cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu, and Malayalam actor Suresh Gopi are expected to be nominated to the Rajya Sabha, reveal sources.

The Rajya Sabha has 12 nominated members in its total strength of 245 and out of the 12 nominated members, there are seven vacancies at the moment. Party is planning to fill up the vacancies before the Parliament session starts on Monday.

Subramanian Swamy on Friday thank his supporters and tweeted, “as MP I will get the most important forum speaking on nations issues.”

The President nominates members from those with special knowledge or having made their mark in literature, science, art and social service. Presently, there are already five nominated members by the President, including lawyer K Parasaran, actor Rekha, industrialist Anu Agha, senior advocate KTS Tulsi and cricketer Sachin Tendulkar.
