Sheena Bora Case: CBI May Seek Info From Two IPS Officers ‘Close’ To Indrani | News World India

Central Bureau of Investigation may talk to two West Bengal-cadre IPS officers, who were ‘close’ to Indrani Mukerjea. CBI may seek information on aspects related to the wider conspiracy in the Sheena Bora murder case from these officers.

According to HT, these officers allegedly knew Indrani as “friends” when she was in West Bengal. The report quoting CBI sources said that the agency is verifying information drawn from old acquaintances of Indrani about her ties with a high-profile group of businessmen and government officials in Kolkata, including two state-cadre IPS officers.

Indrani allegedly came in contact with the IPS officers when she was still married to businessman and co-accused Sanjeev Khanna, the report said quoting the source. Indrani subsequently moved to Mumbai and married ex-media baron Peter Mukerjea in 2002.

According to report the CBI would like to know if Indrani had maintained contacts with the two IPS officers even after shifting to Mumbai and if they had any information that may throw more light on the wider conspiracy, including the financial motive.

The agency suspects there is a financial motive behind the murder of Sheena, who was allegedly strangled in April 2012 by Indrani, Khanna and her then driver Shyamwar Rai, according to CBI’s case chargesheet submitted in a Mumbai court last month.

The agency has sought information from Interpol on possible bank accounts in Hong Kong and Singapore that Indrani opened in Sheena’s name. The CBI is verifying if said account/s held funds whose ownership could have led to a dispute resulting in the crime.
