Robert Vadra Slams Delhi Govt Of Hypocrisy For Exempting VIPs From Odd-Even Formula | News World India

As the AAP government in Delhi rolls up its sleeves to implement the much-talked ‘Odd-Even Formula’ to clean up the capital’s air pollution and congestion issues, Robert Vadra entered the fray accusing the Delhi government of hypocrisy for exempting VIPs to fall under this ambit.

Robert Vadra, son-in-law of Congress President Sonia Gandhi, on Saturday posted his thoughts on his Facebook profile.

“Odd and Even ways !! Creating parallel lists of exemption, is complete hypocrisy. If a law is implemented in the interest of the people, we all must adhere, and not be VIPs. Creating parallel lists of exemption, is complete hypocrisy,” Vadra wrote in the post.

The Delhi Government has exempted 20 categories of vehicles including the two-wheelers, women drivers, hybrid cars, VVIPs except Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The exemption list includes the President, Vice President, the Prime Minister, governors, the Chief Justice of India, the Lok Sabha Speaker, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman, Union Ministers, Leaders of Opposition in Parliament, all chief ministers except for Delhi’s, Supreme Court judges, the Deputy Speaker and emergency vehicles.

Two-wheelers, vehicles with defence ministry number plates, pilot cars, those protected by the elite Special Protection Group and embassy cars with CD number plates will also be kept out of the ban. The rule will also not apply to public transport.

Vadra, himself is accorded VIP status at airports where he is exempted from being frisked for security checks. Political rivals of the Congress have often attacked the businessman over it, most recently leading to the controversy over Vadra’s name being removed and then added again to the list of VIP exemption list.

Delhi’s odd-even traffic policy dictates that cars with registration numbers ending in an odd digit will ply on odd numbered dates while even on even numbered dates. The policy is being implemented for a 15-day trial period.
