One of the greatest filmmakers of all time, Satyajit Ray is the legend of Indian Cinema who has given a completely new definition to the 20th century cinema. Multitalented Ray has directed 36 films, which include feature films, documentaries and short stories.
Honoured with 32 National Film Awards and many other international and honorary awards, Satyajit Ray took Indian cinema to new heights.
Not many know, but Ray started his career as a commercial artist and French filmmaker ‘Jean Renoir’ inspired him to go for independent filmmaking. He was also honoured with Bharat Ratna in 1992.
Satyajit Ray’s first film was ‘Pather Panchali’ which won 11 international prizes. Considered as one of the greatest filmmakers of all time, we remember him on his birth anniversary!
