With the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) set to hire a full-time coach for the team soon, former Australia captain Ricky Ponting has endorsed Rahul Dravid as one of the best candidates for the top job.
Ponting, who is currently coaching the Indian Premier League side Mumbai Indians, said the BCCI will not find a better candidate than Dravid.
The former Indian captain is currently mentoring IPL side Delhi Daredevils.
“It’s not my decision to make and it depends on what BCCI are looking for. Do they want an Indian coach or an overseas one? I don’t think BCCI will find many better candidates than someone like Dravid. If he’s interested in doing the job, he will do a good job,” Ponting said.
