The petition filed by a common man can cost 21 AAP MLAs their membership. According to reports, Prashant Patel had filed a petition before President Pranab Mukherjee seeking membership cancellation of these 21 Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs, alleging that all of them have occupied offices of profit in violation of the Constitution of India.
All these 21 MLAs were appointed as Parliamentary Secretaries by the Delhi government last year.
The President had forwarded the petition to the Election Commission of India (ECI).
The ECI already issued a show-cause notice to all of them and have asked them to file a reply by May 10.
