After All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi and Janata Dal (United) president Sharad Yadav, now yoga guru Baba Ramdev has raised questions over the selection of people for India’s highest civilian award, Bharat ratna as well as the Padma Awards. According to Baba Ramdev, a lot of lobbying and canvassing goes behind the scenes to get the awards.
“The entire world knows that all these awards like Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan or Padma Vibhushan and even Nobel prize are given to good people also, but there is intense lobbying and those having more political influence succeed in getting them,” yoga guru, Ramdev on Saturday said.
Recently, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi had questioned the conferring of the Bharat Ratna award to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpaee and Padma Vibhushan to BJP veteran leader LK Advani.
Owaisi had made a sensational communal charge against Vajpayee, linking the former Prime Minister to the Babri Demolition and said that Vajpaee doesn’t deserve the nation’s highest honour because of his culpability.
The MIM chief further questioned, “Why the second highest civilian award Padma Vibhushan award was given to LK Advani , alleging that he played a role in Babri Masjid Demolition.”
Earlier, JD(U) president Sharad Yadav had said that Padmashri and Padmabhushan awards are being given to only dishonest people.
“Samajwadi people (Socialists) should spurn Padmashri and Padmabhushan. These awards are given to only those people who are dishonest. These are given only to people from high echelons of society,” Yadav had said.
