Even as there is no finality on the proposed talks between India and Pakistan on January 15, a media report suggested on Monday that National Security Advisor Ajit Doval may secretly meet his counterpart Nasser Khan Janjua in few days.
According to the report in NDTV, the meeting between the two NSA might take place in third country away from media glare.
The report added that Pakistani officials have said that a key component of the evidence supplied by India about the terror attack doesn’t check out – the numbers that the six attackers called in the hours before opening fire at Pathankot are not registered in Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Pakistani law enforcement agencies today picked up ‘some suspects’ connected to Pathankot attack from Bahwalapur district, the hometown of Maulana Masood Azhar, chief of banned terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed.
Earlier India asked for an Interpol black notice to help identify the bodies of six terrorists who were killed in an intense three-day operation at Pathankot airbase in Punjab.
A black notice is issued to circulate information about unidentified bodies of persons who are believed to have used false identities. Photos and details of the body are sent out along with such a notice.
During the ongoing search operation in an outside the Pathankot air base, Security forces have recovered one more mobile phone, one AK-47 magazine and binocular from the encounter site, a home ministry spokesperson said.
“NIA teams are examining witnesses in Punjab, both inside the Pathankot Air Force station and outside,” said MHA spokesperson.
Meanwhile, the Centre has ruled out immediate arrest of Punjab Police SP Salwinder Singh, but he is lieky to be subjected to lie-detecting test for his alleged discrepancies in his statements.
Salwinder Singh, his jeweller friend Rajesh Verma and cook Madan Gopal were allegedly kidnapped by terrorists on the intervening night of December 31 and January 1 before they entered the IAF base in Pathankot.
Singh was recently shunted as SP (headquarters) of Gurdaspur following allegation of breach of discipline.
