No discrimination on faith or religion. That’s a stand which is easily politicised these days. But app-based cab service OLA have made a point with one such customer. And for taking a stand, Ola is getting rave appreciation on social media. In a country like India, where we talk about equality, there are some sections in the society who are yet to overcome their conservative, orthodox and narrow mindset. Well, one such incident has grabbed eyeballs on social media.
Seelam Veerapa Naidu, who described himself as Physician, SapioSexual, Neophyte)PoliticalScientist-€conomist, Dreamer of Alternate Capital Rashomon Effect on Twitter tweeted at ‘Ola cab’ saying,
“Being a Hindu i usually prefer Driver of Hindu Faith Only , Particularly in Hyderabad.. pls Give us a chance to Choose a Driver”.
Hats off to Ola, who instantly responded to Naidu saying, “Sorry, we do not discriminate against our drivers on the basis of their religion.”
Within few minutes, the Twitter exchange between the duo gained huge traction and Twitterati appreciated Ola’s straight and bold reply. On the other hand, Naidu tried his best to defend his weird request saying that his request should be viewed as customer preference and not discrimination.
@Olacabs Why Shld we see it as Discrimination instead of Customer Preference.

Meanwhile, former J&K CM Omar Abdullah also took to Twitter to appreciate Ola’s reply and publicly proclaiming that it will not tolerate discrimination in any form.
