Honouring the 388th birth anniversary of the academician, Google has posted doodles inspired by some of Charles Perrault’s famous works.

Born on 12 January 1628 in Paris, Charles Perrault is the author of Little Red Riding Hood, Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella.

His works derived from pre-existing folk tales, Perrault is credited with laying the foundations for a new literary genre, the fairy tales. He was an influential figure in the 17th-century French literary scene.

Doodler Sophie Diao has created tableaux for Perrault’s ‘Mother Goose’ stories (Les Contes de ma Mère l’Oye, 1697): Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Puss in Boots.
