As the death toll due to the intense heat wave across India has already crossed the 2000 mark, people can take a sigh of relief as the Meteorological Department on Saturday said that monsoon is likely to hit the Kerala coast before June 3.

“Monsoon is likely to hit Kerala coast before 3rd June,” Director Met Dept (Kerala) said on Saturday.
Earlier, the Met officials had said that the strong winds from north westerly direction having a speed of 45-55 kmph were likely to hit the Kerala coast and Lakshadweep on Friday.
The dizzying temperatures have caused water shortages in thousands of villages across the country and killed hundreds more people on Friday, driving the death toll from a week’s long heat wave to over 2000.
