Prime Minister Narendra Modi while distributing e-boats in Varanasi on Sunday said that the launch of of the e-boats ‘will give impetus to tourism’ in the city.
The Prime Minister began his speech at the Assi Ghat by chanting ‘Har Har Mahadev’ and said that India will become stronger by empowering its poor.
“We are empowering the poor so that the poor can battle poverty through schemes like Jan Dhan Yojana,” he said while highlighting the role of Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana in giving loans to the poor without guarantee.
Taking a dig at the opposition, Modi said that, “during elections, political parties launch schemes which can strengthen their vote bank.”
“Schemes that strengthen people are more important than the schemes that strengthen vote banks,” he added while addressing the gathering at the bank of river Ganga in his Lok Sabha constituency.
“This government is for the poor,” he said.
“I have named this GPS system NAVIC, this is a tribute to our fishermen and boatmen,” PM Modi said while distributing the eco-boats today.
