Microsoft announced on Wednesday that it would cut 7,800 jobs or approximately 7% of its workforce and but maximum cut is from Nokia phone business which is $7.6 billion.
Most of these cuts will be in hardware business and more focus will be on software and cloud from hardware.
These layoffs are in addition to the 18000 employees that Microsoft had planned to let go an year ago.

Although Microsoft spokesperson has declined to make any sort of comment, but Microsoft executives have been hinting at more cuts for months.

Earlier this year, at the end of March, Microsoft had more than 118,000 employees globally.
Satya Nadella, who became Microsoft’s chief executive early last year, also warned that Microsoft would need to “make some tough choices in areas where things are not working and solve hard problems in ways that drive customer value.”
