Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Monday while asking government functionaries to reach out to public sought cooperation from the people of the state in ending the ‘vicious cycle of violence.’

In a statement to the media today she said that, “J&K police & paramilitary forces have been asked to exercise maximum restrain to avoid loss of lives or grievous injuries.”

“Unfortunately some elements are hell bent upon fomenting trouble, mayhem & bloodshed in Kashmir for their vested interests and are playing with the lives of the innocent youth
by instigating them to indulge in extreme violence,” she added.

While justifying the imposition of various restrictions in the state, mehbooba said that, “Imposing restrictions in prevailing circumstances has become an inevitability to avoid violent protests.”

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday telephoned Congress president Sonia Gandhi and National Conference leader and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to discuss the the on ground situation in Kashmir with them.

During the conversation, the HM discussed with them efforts to bring back peace and normalcy in Kashmir Valley, which is witnessing violent protests after killing of militant leader Burhan Wani on Friday.
