Kochi boy sells domain named after Mark Zuckerberg's daughter for $700 | News World India

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg may have met his match in Kochi boy Amal Augustine, who recently sold a domain named after his daughter Maxime Chan Zuckerberg to him for $700.

Augustine, a final year electronics and communication engineering student from Kochi, has beaten the tech prodigy in his own game by selling the trading rights of maxchanzuckerberg.org to Facebook on Monday.

Interestingly, Augustine had bought the domain name registered after Zuckerberg’s daughter when she was born in December last year.

According to a reports, Augustine received a casual mail from Internet domain registrar and web hoisting company GoDaddy asking if was willing to sell the domain name by the end of March and for how much.

He replied yes for a decent sum of $700.

He was foxed to know that the mail closing the deal came from Iconic Capital, the firm which handles financial deals of the Facebook founder.

The process of registering domain names of famous personalities and companies with the intent of selling them to their rightful owners is called Cyber Squatting.

Though it’s a federal crime under the US laws, India no laws against cyber-squatting and the cases are decided based on the relevant sections of the Trademark laws.
