Kirti Azad Suspended By BJP For Targeting Arun Jaitley In DDCA Row | News World India

BJP lawmaker and former cricketer Kirti Azad has been suspended by the party for publicly targeting Finance Minister Arun Jaitley with allegations of corruption in Delhi’s cricket body DDCA.

Terming the news of suspension as “unfortunate”, Azad said he never spoke anything against the party or Jatiley.  “I tried to expose the corruption in the cricket body.”

Kirti Azad has made corruption allegations linked to the DDCA that Jaitley headed for 13 years till 2013. Azad on Sunday held a press conference where he released CD allegedly detailing the irregularities and corruption in the cricket body. He had also dared on Jaitley on social media to file a defamation case against him after the Union minister filed cases against Arvind Kejriwal and some AAP leaders.

Azad has also challenged Jaitley in the parliament and demanded for a time-bound CBI inquiry in the alleged DDCA scam.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has defended Jaitley at a weekly meeting of BJP lawmakers. Azad was not present in the meeting though he did attend Parliament.

On Monday, BJP chief Amit Shah also broke his silence, defending Jaitley and accusing the AAP government in Delhi of running a malicious campaign against the minister.

Azad held the press conference despite being warned by Shah against it.

Meanwhile, BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha on Wednesday came out in support of Kirti Azad and asked Finance Minister Arun Jaitley to follow the example of LK Advani, who had resigned over the Hawala case, and “come clean” as “advised” by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Sinha, who has been critical of the party leadership over a host of issues, also took a dig at it, saying the “party with a difference has become party with differences”.

Sinha hailed Azad, who has targeted Jaitley over alleged corruption in DDCA, as the “hero of the day” and warned the party against taking any coercive action against a friend fighting corruption, saying it could boomerang.
