Days after the demise of Jammu and Kashmir CM Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, it seems that the BJP and PDP are renegotiating the terms of their alliance. According to sources, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti has put some conditions, while in front of BJP has put some counter terms.

BJP has asked the PDP chief to agree on ‘rotational chief ministership’ for Jammu and Kashmir, which has been rejected by Mehbooba. Earlier, Mehbooba has demanded removal of the deputy chief minister’s post and some key ministries to continue the alliance.

Meanwhile, speculations are ripe that Congress is offering an olive branch to Mehbooba Mufti ahead of the oath taking ceremony of the PDP chief as the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir.

Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and Union minister Nitin Gadkari, on Sunday, met Mehbooba Mufti at her residence in Srinagar and condoled the death of her father and J&K chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.

Gadkari represented the Centre in the ritualistic fourth-day prayer for Sayeed, who passed away last week, since Prime Minister Narendra Modi could not attend the service as he was in Mumbai on a pre-scheduled programme.

J&K is under governor’s rule since Friday as Mehbooba, who was supposed to take oath as first woman CM of the state, declined to do so till end of the fourth day mourning period of her father’s death. But there was no indication from either PDP or its alliance partner BJP that a government will be in place soon.
