If somebody asks you to diet, show them the ‘Light Blue Ribbon’ that aims at raising awareness of the potential dangers of dieting and the unlikelihood of success.
If somebody asks you to diet, show them the ‘Light Blue Ribbon’ that aims at raising awareness of the potential dangers of dieting and the unlikelihood of success.
The ribbon is the symbol of ‘international no diet day’ that falls on May 6th. Here are five message from it for you:
- It says “push back messages that encourage dieting behaviors.”
- Let’s promote a healthy lifestyle with a focus on health at any size.
- Dieting is not a successful weight loss regime, Institute of Medicine summarises: “those who complete weight-loss programs lose approximately 10 percent of their body weight only to regain two-thirds within a year and almost all of it within five years.”
- Love your body and be proud of your size, being slim is not the definition of a good health.
- Love the food and enjoy it to the fullest ‘empty bellies do not beget genius’.
The tradition to celebrate May 6th as international no diet day was started by UK in 1992. Later, feminist groups in other countries around the globe adopted the tradition.
The list of countries who are celebrating it with excitement includes names like USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, India, Israel, Denmark and Brazil.
