IIFA Postpones Function In View Of Chennai Rains | News World India

Expressing solidarity with people of Chennai, which is hit by torrential rains, the IIFA Utsav Management has decided to postpone their function scheduled to begin in the state from Friday. The International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) had earlier announced that it will organise the first-ever ‘IIFA Utsavam’ from December 4 at Gachibowli Outdoor Stadium, aimed at celebrating the cinema of South India. “The tragic floods have caused large-scale loss of lives and property and left millions stranded. The IIFA leadership with all key stakeholders, the South Indian film industry and the Chief Minister Telangana K Chandrashekar Rao and Telangana Governor ESL Narasimhan took a unanimous decision to postpone the event until January 2016,” a release from the organisers said today. ‘IIFA Utsavam’ was to bring together the film industries in a celebration of South Indian Cinema and the first edition of the three-day IIFA Utsavam Celebrations that were due to unfold December 4, will be rescheduled and will integrate a fund-raiser on a large scale in support of Chennai city, it said. On behalf of IIFA Management, Andre Timmins, Founder Director, Wizcraft International said, “Today we are one with the city of Chennai and together with the film industry we will show our compete support in aid of those affected by this tragedy”. “The first edition of ‘IIFA Utsavam’ in conjunction with the film industries of Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam will be held later as a fund raiser for the flood victims”, it
