Comedian John Oliver has become a huge hit with the French after launching an expletive-filled rant at the ‘gigantic a***holes’ behind the Paris terror attacks.
The British host of HBO’s Last Week Tonight jumped to the defence of France on his show telling ISIS: ‘If you are in a war of culture with France, good f***ing luck!’
The daily mail quoted some Parisians as saying that his remarks had ‘made their day’ after suffering 72 hours of chaos, fear and misery as they mourned the deaths of 132 people massacred across the city by Islamist gunmen.
Oliver’s tirade has also gone viral on Facebook after it was posted by Les InRocks magazine, which lost a music journalist in the atrocities.
WARNING: The Video Contains Strong Language
In a monologue to the camera, Oliver says: ‘First, as of now, we know this attack was carried out by gigantic f***ing a***holes.’
‘Unconscionable, flaming a***holes, possibly working with other f***ing a***holes, definitely working in service of an ideology of pure a***holery.
‘Second, and this goes almost without saying, f*** these a***holes. F*** them, if I might say, f*** them sideways.’
He says: ‘If you are in a war of culture and lifestyle with France, good f***ing luck. Go ahead, bring your bankrupt ideology.
‘They’ll bring Jean-Paul Sartre, Edith Piaf, fine wine, Camus, Camembert, madeleines, macarons, and the f***ing croquembouche.
‘You just brought a philosophy of rigorous self-abnegation to a pastry fight, my friend.’
‘So to the people of France, our thoughts are truly with you and I do not doubt there will be more to say on all of this as events unspool.’
