CBSE results have been announced on Monday with 82% of students successfully passing the examination. The pace of admissions in different universities is going to drastically shoot up. One of the most sought after universities, Delhi University has already notified about the admissions.

In the open sessions held to discuss the admission procedure and queries relation to it, the confusion over calculation of best of four subjects was highest.
This is how one can calculate best of four subject percentage: –
Arts/ Humanities
- One language is compulsory (core/elective/functional)
- The subject in which admission is sought. If any student is excluding the concerned subject whether studied or not, a deduction of 2.5% may be imposed. E.g. If anyone has not studied political science or has studied but does not want to include in best of four, a total of 2.5% may be deducted if he/she is taking admission in Political Science (H)
- Any other two academic/elective subjects from the following:- Physics, Arabic, French, Bengali, English, Italian, Botany, Chemistry, Commerce, Computer Science, Economics, Geography, Geology, German, Hindi, History, Home Science, Italian, Mathematics, Persian, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Sociology, Spanish, Statistics, Urdu, Zoology.
Besides, Business Studies, Biology/Biotechnology is also considered as elective/academic subject.
Any other subject offered by different boards will be considered as non-elective subject and must have 70% component of theory exams.
Physical Education and Music will be treated as academic/elective only if admission is sought in Physical Education (H) and Music (H) respectively.

Commerce
As mentioned above. However, additional eligibility of passing mathematics is compulsory for admissions in Commerce and Economics.
Language
- Admission in English and Hindi requires inclusion of Hindi and English respectively in best of four subjects.
- Advantage of 2% to those candidates who have studied elective language.
- If a candidate has studied both core and elective languages, the core will be treated as language.
- Any candidate who has not studied any language may be at a disadvantage of 5%

BA (P) / B.Com (P)
- One Language (Core/Elective/Functional)
- Any three elective subjects. Deduction of 5% may be imposed if there is a change of stream
- Only admission in BA Vocational Courses treats Vocational subjects as elective/academic
- An advantage of 10% may be given if a candidate opts for MIL (except Hindi) as a subject in the best of four in the colleges where MIL is being offered as a subject.
Science
Basis of selection is on the marks of PCM/PCB/ PCMB with at least 70% of the theoretical component.
