After the Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor, second bullet train will soon run between the stations of Delhi and Varanasi.
Reportedly, the bullet train will cover a distance of 782 km in just two hours and 40 minutes.
As per a report in Times Of India, the BJP government is looking to complete the work on train as soon as possible and planning to run the train before the Uttar Pradesh polls in 2017.
The train will follow a route via Lucknow, Aligarh, Agra and Kanpur, and Varanasi, which is Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Lok Sabha constituency.
The cost for the project is estimated at Rs 43,000 crore.
However, if reports are to be believed India’s first bullet train project suffered a major setback after Maharashtra government refused to allow Indian Railways to build most crucial station project of Rs 98,000 crore in Mumbai early this month.
According to a report, Railways was planning to construct an underground station at Bandra-Kurla Complex), which is a central business district. However, the state government reportedly now have told the Railways that the proposed station at BKC would affect its plans to come up with a financial centre at the same place.
