CBEC Issues Service Tax Notice To Aamir Khan, Ranveer Singh
The Central Board of Excise & Customs (CBEC)has cracked down on Bollywood stars and production houses for not disclosing their income.
According to reports, the service tax division of the CBEC has reportedly issued notices to actor Aamir Khan, Ranveer Singh, asking them to disclose payments received from the likes of Yash Raj Films and Salman Khan Films.
ET reports” “Service tax division has recently sent letters to Yash Raj Films, Salman Khan Films and actors, including Aamir Khan and Ranveer Singh, to disclose payment details.”
According to experts, actors, who generally get paid in tranches by producers, are liable to deposit the service tax. “If an actor gets Rs 1 crore in four equal tranches, it is his or her responsibility to pay service tax on each of the tranche.
