AugustaWestland Deal: CBI To Quiz Former Air Chief SP Tyagi Today | NWI

Amid the controversy over AugustaWestland VVIP chopper deal, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has called in former Air chief S P Tyagi and former deputy Air chief J S Gujral for questioning today.

According to reports, Tyagi would be confronted with fresh evidenace and documents today.

CBI had earlier questioned Tyagi in connection with the alleged scam. However, he had denied any wrongdoing.

The central probe agency issued fresh orders to summon Tyagi under the provisions of Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) after it recieved a copy of the Milan court order, which had sentenced helicopter-maker Finmeccanica’s former chief Giuseppe Orsi and former CEO of the company, Bruno Spagnolini on corruption charges in the AgustaWestland chopper deal.

The allegation against the former Air chief is that he had reduced flying ceiling of the helicopter so that AgustaWestland was included in the bids.

CBI has registered a case against Tyagi along with 13 others including his cousins and European middlemen in the case.

Meanwhile, the agency had already questioned several bureaucrats including former cabinet secretary BK Chaturvedi and Comptroller and Auditor General Shashikant Sharma who was the then Defence Secretary, the then SPG chief BV Wanchoo and Narayanan in connection with the alleged scam.
