With the beginning of Chaitra Navratri today, Prime Minister Narendera Modi is also observing strict religious fast and began the festivities by offering prayers at Kamakhya Temple in Assam.
Kamakhya Temple is situated at the top of Ninanchal Hill in the Western part of Guwahati.
Modi reached here Friday morning as he is scheduled to address election rallies in the state in the wake of second phase of the ongoing assembly elections.
During these 9 days of fast Modi will abstain from having food and will only intake water.
Today, Modi will address rallies in Raha, Rangia, Sarbhog and Guwahati.
