Earlier, ASCI pulled up Airtel for its allegedly misleading 4G advertisements.
The Advertising Standards Council of India, government watchdog, has banned 82 advertisements of leading brands in India in June for misleading customers by propagating false information.
According to the reports, these adverts belonged to various categories like 26 in personal healthcare category, 22 in education, 9 in food and beverages, 7 in media and entertainment etc., it also included some digital companies.
The ASCI in a press release stated that based on the complaints,the regulator’s Consumer Complaints council (CCC) “upheld complaints against 82 out of 148 advertisements” and issued ban notice against them.
The popular brands who has been pulled up by ASCI for fluting regulations include the e-commerce giants- Flipkart and Snapdeal, Govt mobile service provider-BSNL, Vodafone Essar.
The others include L’oreal India, CavinKare, Lotus Herbals, Akansha Hair & Skin Care, Fortis Healthcare, Vicco Laboratories, Body Care Slimming & Beauty Clinic, Rocket Capsules, Amity University, Career Launcher, Borges India Pvt Limited, Heinz India, Pernod Ricard, TV 18 Broadcast, Sarthak Channel, Living Media, Uber, Jasper Infotech, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, JadeBlue.
The ban comes a day after ASCI pulled up Airtel for its allegedly misleading 4G advertisements.
