Right before the Christmas and new year, Apple slashed prices of its most promising iPhone 5s series in India. Bringing down its prices to almost half, the iPhone 5s got its second price cut in last three-month.

According to the latest listing on Amazon India site, the iPhone 5s 16GB variant is now available at Rs 21,499. The phone was earlier available at Rs 44,500 in September.

In its last listing before third official price cut, it was available at Rs 36,000 in India.

Amazon India lists the iPhone 5s at new prices

Seems like depreciating value of Indian rupee in comparison to the US dollar and higher taxes couldn’t stop the manufacturers of the iPhone 5s.

The phone was listed, at the time of launch, as most expensive device in global market and now the prices in India are at the lowest in comparison to other countries.

Aiming to target to rising mid-level segment which is currently occupied by Motorola, Xiaomi and OnePlus, Apple slashed the prices of iPhone 5s to build its market in this portfolio.

According to reports, half of the iPhone users have iPhone5s in India

The iPhone 5s got its first price-cut last year during the same time, right after the launch of Apple iPhone 6 in India.
