And as the fans are gearing up to end this year with ‘Dilwale’ and ‘Bajirao Mastani’, Bollywood movie buffs are wondering what 2016 has in store for them. Here is a look at some of the most-awaited movies, that you can’t afford to miss in the coming year:
Written by Abhijaat Joshi and Vindhu Vinod Chopra, “Wazir” is an action drama distributed by Reliance Entertainment, and is set to release on January 8, 2016. The movie presents Farhan Akhtar and John Abraham as ATS officers, while Big B plays the role of a physically disabled man with a sharp brain.
Directed by Sunny, “Ghayal Once Again” will continue from where the first version left off. The film is reportedly based on a real-life event in the life of a Mumbai police officer. The film will hit the screens on January 15, 2016.
“Dishoom”, an action adventure film produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, stars John Abraham, Varun Dhawan and Jacqueline Fernandez in the lead roles. The movie is slated to release on July 29, 2016.
Directed by Maneesh Sharma, “Fan”, which is slated to release on April 15, 2016, will feature Shah Rukh as Gaurav Chanana, the biggest fan of superstar Aryan Khanna, essayed by SRK himself.
“Sultan”, which is slated to release on the Eid 2016, reveals that Salman will be essaying the role of a wrestler. The actor, who is currently shooting for the film, can be seen sporting a stubble and a crew cut.
The Rahul Dholakia directorial, which also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui, is set in the 1980s Gujarat, and tells the story of a bootlegger whose business is thwarted by a tough policeman. SRK will be seen as a liquor baron. The film will release on Eid 2016.
“Mohenjo Daro” is an epic love story set in the Indus Valley civilization. It is being extensively shot in Bhuj and will see Hrithik romancing debutant Pooja Hegde.
Produced by Karan Johar, the film stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Anushka Sharma and Ranbir Kapoor in lead roles. “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil” is co-produced by Fox Star India and Dharma Productions. The film is releasing on June 3, 2016.
“Dangal”, slated to release during Christmas week of 2016, sees Aamir Khan as a Haryanvi wrestler over different age periods. Aamir has put on a lot of weight to essay the older character of the wrestler and had recently injured his shoulder during the shooting in Punjab.
“Udta Punjab”, which is currently under production, will be the first time when Alia will star alongside Kareena in a film. There are four different tracks in the film. The movie also stars Shahid Kapoor and Diljit Dosanjh in lead roles.
