In a step towards realising its objective of operating high-speed train on Indian Railway tracks, the Railways on Sunday begin with the speed trial of Spanish Built Talgo train on Bareilly-Moradabad (UP) rail route.

According to reports, the trial began at around 9.00 AM at the speed ranging between 80-115 km per hour.
It will continue for two weeks and after that it will be tried on Rajdhani route between Mathura and Palwal for 40 days with speed up to 180 km per hour.
The third trial will be between Delhi and Mumbai for two weeks.
Shipped from Barcelona, the Talgo aluminium coaches anchored at Mumbai port on April 21.
Besides reducing travel time, Talgos lighter trains consume 30 percent less energy, revealed railway officials.
