Social media went abuzz after the news of batting legend Sachin Tendulkar‘s son, Arjun selection over Pranav Dhanawade in the West Zone U-16 side broke out.
For those who don’t know who Pranav Dhanawade is? For them, earlier this year Pranav became the first batsman to score 1000-plus runs in an innings in any form of cricket. Batting against Arya Gurukul School in a Bhandari Cup match, Pranav reached 1000 runs in just 323 balls.
Opening the batting for KC Gandhi, Pranav Dhanawade, the 15-year-old son of an auto rickshaw driver, scored 1,009 not out, from 327 balls, with 59 sixes and 129 fours, in six hours and 35 minutes before KC Gandhi eventually declared with their score on 1,465.
Earlier, In June 1899 AEJ Collins, aged 13, scored 628 not out in a junior house match at Clifton College.
There were plenty of questions about Arjun’s selection over the record holder Pranav Dhanawade still to be answered.
