Persis received fame from a bald role as Deltan navigator Lieutenant Ilia in Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979). She was the first woman who gained huge popularity in the US as well as appreciated for her pretty face. She went to present two awards at the Oscar with co-star William Shatner in 1980.
Unfortunately, she enjoyed a short-lived famed career in Hollywood with science fiction movies like ‘Warrior of the Lost World and Mega Force’.
