After Onion Now Sugar: AAP Govt Accused Of Irregularities In Purchase | News World India

After facing controversy over Onions, Delhi’s AAP Government is now battling charges of another scam- this time involving sugar. RTI activist Vivek Garg has accused the Aam Aadmi government and written a letter to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) demanding a probe in the matter. ACB has began an investigation in the accusations.

According to Garg, information received through RTI reveals that AAP government purchased more 101 thousand quintal sugar at a price that was higher than the market price at that time. Garg said that the sugar purchased during the months of September and October, of which 15000 quintal were bought at the rate of Rs 33.90 per kg while 86000 quintal were bought at Rs 30.87 per kg.

Gard said that at that time the rate of sugar in the retail market was Rs 30 per kg while the rate of sugar in wholesale market was Rs 20 to 22 per kg.

Gard also pointed out the AAP government purchased the sugar from private companies (15000 quintal from Sainik food private ltd and 86000 quintal from Doctor frozen private ltd) instead NFSFL or any co-operatives which may have sold it at a much lower rate.
