India’s ODI captain is in yet another hot soup with a summons order by a Bengaluru court in connection with a charge of hurting religious sentiments of Hindus.

According to various reports, the 9th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate has directed him to appear before the court on August 10, after the defence challenged the summons issued to him, asking him to appear before it on May 8.

Y Shyam Sunder, a local leader of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), had filed a petition in the court in February alleging that the cricketer hurt the sentiments of Hindus by denigrating a Hindu god.

According to the complaint filed against Captain Cool, MSD had appeared as an avatar of the popular Hindu god Vishnu as depicted by Jayakumar Hiremath; only the depiction was misused for advertisement purpose.

The advertisement had appeared on the cover page of the April 14, 2014 edition of Business Today magazine. The advertisement showed an image of Dhoni as an avatar of Lord Vishnu. In the image, he is seen bearing in different hands the various brands that he endorses, such as Lays, Boost and Reebok.

The caption however, clearly stated its intended purpose of analysing Dhoni as the ‘god’ of advertisement. Guess, it is up to the believers of both kind.
