Just a day after it released former militant Gurdeep Singh Khera on parole, the Punjab government on Saturday granted 21-day parole to 1993 Delhi bomb blast convict Devinderpal Singh Bhullar.

Bhullar was declared guilty of killing nine bystanders in a 1993 car bombing intended to kill politician Maninderjeet Singh Bitta, and sentenced to death by hanging by a split decision.

He who was brought to Amritsar from New Delhi last year, was admitted to the psychiatry ward of the local Guru Nanak Hospital since then.

His death sentence was commuted to life imprisonment by the Supreme Court on 31 March 2014.
