Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday called President Pranab Mukherjee an “invaluable asset to our nation” on his birthday.

A man of humble origins, Mukherjee was born in West Bengal’s Mirati village as son of freedom fighters, Kamada Kinkar Mukherjee and Rajlakshmi on December 11, 1935.
