Pinarayi Vijayan To Take Oath As Kerala CM On May 25 | NWI

The Communist Party of India(Marxist) leadership has picked Pinarayi Vijayan as the next chief minister of Kerala on Friday, a day after the Left Democratic Front (LDF) registered an emphatic victory against the Congress-led alliance in the assembly election.

Vijayan will take oath as chief minister on May  25.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the State Secretariat of the Communist Party of India-Marxist here, also attended by general secretary Sitaram Yechury.

The LDF won 91 seats in the 140-member House as United Democratic Front (UDF) was reduced to 47 seats with many incumbent ministers failing to win from their constituencies.

Earlier in the day, Oommen Chandy submitted his resignation to Kerala governor P Sadasivam.
