For the first time in its 68 years’ history Pakistani government has finally declared Holi, Diwali and Easter as national holidays.
The decision came after Dr Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, an elected Hindu lawmaker of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League from Sindh moved the resolution in the parliament.
According to The Tribune, the Pakistan government has agreed to accept the resolution.
Nation’s treatment of its minorities often makes headlines for the wrong reasons.
Thus, the step by the government can be seen as a move to improve its image as a tolerant nation.
Here Hindus make around 2 percent of the country’s population and Christians around 1.6 per cent of the population.
