Happy 71st United Nations Day
Happy 71st United Nations Day

Playing a crucial role in the functioning of the world, it may be hard for today’s generation to imagine a time with the United Nations, yet today is only its 71st Birthday.

International United Nation’s Day celebrates the 71st anniversary of the establishment of the UN Charter in 1945. By means of this document, ratified by majority of its signatories and the 5 permanent members of the Security Council, the United Nations officially came into being.

The United Nations Birthday goal is that the day “shall be devoted to making known to the peoples of the world the aims and achievements of the United Nations and to gaining their support for its work”.

Annually celebrated with a themed concert in the universal language of music, in 2016 the concert features Korean Traditional Music Orchestra, Lang Lang, world famous Harlem Gospel Choir, the Hungarian State Opera with performances by soprano Andrea Rost and other notable artists with a central theme of “Freedom First”.

“In this, the Organization’s 71st year, we have 17 goals to propel us towards a better future for all on a healthy planet. ” said UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon in an official statement.
