The Supreme Court on Monday, quashed criminal proceedings against Indian cricketer, M S Dhoni for allegedly hurting religious sentiments by portraying as a god on a magazine cover.
MS Dhoni Off The Hook, No Charges For Being Depicted As Lord Vishnu

The Supreme Court has on Thursday quashed a criminal case filed against cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni accusing him of hurting religious sentiments. The case had been filed when Dhoni had been portrayed as Hindu god Lord Vishnu on the cover of a magazine. The apex court ruled that there had been no deliberate or malicious intent on the part of Dhoni.

Multiple FIRs had been filed against Dhoni and the editor of the concerned magazine after the magazine cover had been printed and the matter reached the Supreme Court in September 2016.

The controversial magazine cover had been released in the April 2013 edition of ‘Business Today’ magazine which showed Dhoni as Lord Vishnu using multiple hands to hold various objects. The title had been named ‘The God of Big Deals’.
