Following the Delhi High Court directive, the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh On Wednesday met the two-time Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar to sort out the issues raised by the athlete ahead of 2016 Rio Olympics scheduled to start in August.
After the meeting, Sushil Kumar said: “I spoke to the Wrestling Federation of India and it was a positive meeting.”
“I asked Sushil Kumar what he would have done had he been in my position,” said WFI President while talking to media persons after meeting with Sushil.
“This matter is now being heard in High Court,” he added.
Sushil Kumar on Monday moved the Delhi High Court demanding a trial for his inclusion in the list of probables to be sent to Rio de Janerio for the summer Olympics.
The Delhi High Court on Tuesday said that a committee consisting of the President, Vice President, Secretary and the chief coach should meet Sushil at the earliest and since the federation was an autonomous body, it should try and resolve the matter amicably.
Sushil wants to participate in trials for the 74-kg weight category. However, Narsingh Yadav was selected in this division after he won the bronze medal in 2015 at World Wrestling Championship in Las Vegas.
