Defending champion and world record holder David Rudisha from Kenya topped the Heat clocking 1:45.09 minute followed by South Africa’s Rynardt Rensburg Van at second spot in 1:45.67 minute, which was also the season’s best.

Britain’s Michael Rimmer finished third in 1:45.99 minute to qualify for the semi-finals.

Shooters Narang, Chain fail to enter finals of 50m Rifle Prone

Indian shooters Gagan Narang and Chain Singh failed to reach the finals of the men’s 50 metres Rifle Prone competition in the Olympics here on Friday.

Narang, a bronze medallist in the 2012 Games in the 10 metres Air Rifle, finished 13th in the qualification with a total of 623.1 points.

Chain was 36th with a total of 619.6 points.

The top eight shooters qualify for the finals.

Archer Atanu Bows Out

Archer Atanu Das crashed out of the men’s Individual 1/8 Eliminations, ending India’s campaign in the sport at the Rio Olympics here on Friday.

Atanu fought valiantly, but ultimately went down 4-6 (28-30, 30-28, 27-27, 27-28, 28-28) at the Sambodromo.
